The Executive

Executive member : Constable Jade Wright

I am Constable Jade Wright and I am originally from Crewe, Cheshire.  I was a Police Community Support Officer for the Metropolitan Police for 2 years and lived in Sutton, Surrey and then joined Merseyside Police as a Constable in 2006.  I thoroughly enjoy my job as a police officer and would encourage anyone to join the police.

I have worked in several roles in my time as a Constable.  I have been on a dedicated neighbourhood team, a team dedicated to tackling gangs, 999 response; Prisoner Processing Team, and a cycle team patrolling the Liverpool Loopline.

I am mixed race, my mother is White British and my father is Black Jamaican.  Growing up in Crewe meant that I got used to being one of the only black people in a large group.  It was the same in my local area, school and any hobbies I did.  I experienced a lot of racism growing up.  I was lucky enough to have positive black role models in my life growing up.

I have found that simply being a member of the MBPA has given me the support and boost that I needed.  In my 3 years in the police I have sometimes felt very isolated and I have been tested in various different ways.  I decided to nominate myself for the position of exec member of the MBPA very early on in my career, as I wanted to help others who felt as I did.  I think empathy is huge when trying to support and advise people who are suffering.  I believe I have the experiences to offer this empathy.  I also want to help Merseyside Police to progress in issues surrounding race and diversity.  I also feel like I am helping to pave the way for those who come in future.
